Based on the number of teams that have visited Leslie McDonald in the past two weeks, and the number of scholarship offers he's racked up, it'd be a safe assumption to say the 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard has plenty of options.
Among the schools that have been to Memphis (Tenn.) Briarcrest Christian to watch him work out recently are Memphis, Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss, Wake Forest, Ohio State, North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Texas, Stanford and Georgetown.
McDonald even claims scholarships from each of the schools and his most recent offer came from the Tar Heels. Roy Williams checked him out last week and clearly liked what he saw.
"After North Carolina came, me and Roy Williams talked and he said he was offering me a scholarship," McDonald said. "I was amazed at that. It was pretty satisfying. A lot of colleges send their assistant coaches, but for him to come down and then have a conversation with me, I was very pleased."
While the Heels are just now seriously entering the picture, there have been a few local schools that made a serious impact early on. McDonald recently took an unofficial visit to one of the in-state schools with a pair of his AAU teammates (Johnnie Williams and Ferrakohn Hall).
"The Tennessee visit was great," he said. "The environment and atmosphere was great."
Scout.com's 5th ranked shooting guard is planning to set up a few more visits for next month. Neither the schools nor the dates have been finalized.
One school that will certainly get a visit is Memphis. McDonald mentioned that he's definitely interested in the Tigers, but he's certainly not opposed to leaving town.
"I really, really enjoy Memphis because it's my home town and I really like the environment, but at the same time I'm not afraid to step out of the state."
Despite all of the early interest, McDonald couldn't come up with a list of favorites and doesn't plan to make a decision soon.
"I'm still looking, as we get closer and closer to my junior year that's when my list will be getting smaller and smaller."
