Redhawks Score MAC Monster

The MAC's a good league with strong talent. On Tuesday, Miami-OH bolstered its frontcourt when 3-star recruit Julian Mavunga cast his lot with the Redhawks.

Miami-OH scored a 3-star prospect on Tuesday when Brownsburg (Ind.) High power forward Julian Mavunga called in his commitment.

After considering Indiana State and a host of other programs, the 6-foot-7, 235 pounder picked a MAC program he can have an impact during his career.

Mavunga's a man inside. He's a talented rebounder, hard worker and he's got a motor that pushes him to achieve. The Redhawks, in our view, secured a key frontcourt piece.

The decision wasn't easy. "I was still talking to Pittsburgh and Purdue a lot; Pittsburgh wanted me to take an official visit and Purdue was waiting to see what Zeller did," Mavunga said. It was a tough decision when you take 26 offers and have to pick one out of 26; that's a hard decision to make.

"I felt more comfortable with Miami; I think I probably need the help with academics and they made more of an impact on my family. My family liked them a lot."

Mavunga hails from Zimbabwe. He visited both Indiana State and Miami.
