Anthony Stover, 6-8 JR C La Canada (Calif.) Renaissance Academy, is one of the more intriguing big men in the class of 2009. Stover is an excellent shot blocker and also a very good passer. He still needs to add weight and strength, but he shows signs of potentially being an elite big man in the class of 2009.
I spoke with Stover recently and asked about the schools on his list.
"UCLA, Washington, Arizona, Santa Clara, Gonzaga and Florida," said Stover. "Those are the schools that have been emailing me a lot, sending a lot of letters and calling me."
I asked Stover if any schools stand out from the group.
"UCLA and Florida are my two leaders," said Stover.
Stover talked a little about the factors he'll consider when making his choice.
"I really want to play in the tournament," said Stover. "Also, I want to major in business and economics, so a great business school or good econ school would be important. The location doesn't really matter to me. Early playing time is somewhat of an issue because I really want to get out there and play."
Stover said he's in no hurry to make a decision.
"I'll probably play through next summer – I'm in no rush," said Stover.
Stover said two people will help him with his decision.
"My Dad and my coach, Robert Icart, will be the people helping me," said Stover.
Stover said his GPA is 3.6.
