Klay Thompson, a 6-foot-6 small forward out of Santa Margarita High in California, told Scout.com that he's got one more official visit slated and it's for Oct. 6 to Nevada. However, Thompson said he's got a feel for the program and wasn't positive the visit would be necessary.
"I like Notre Dame and Washington State a lot," Thompson said. "With Notre Dame it's the academics, a chance to play in the Big East. For Washington State, it's on the rise and it's in the Pac-10; coach Bennett's a great coach.
"If I graduate from Notre Dame the degree would mean so much. It's a great school and they're good in basketball. I could see myself going there 4 years."
Thompson has been on Michigan's radar since the summer and he visited the school in early September. "They're still in there. They're just rebuilding and Coach Beilein will do a terrific job."
For Thompson, the son of a former NBA player, developing his game with an eye on potentially earning a living playing the game down the road is driving his decision. "I'd say if that program can develop me over 4 years and get me to be the best I can be, maybe I can play for money in a few years."
