Iowa State Picks Up Power Forward

Iowa State picked up their fourth verbal commitment this past week, when Clinton Mann decided to be apart of Greg McDermott's program.

Clinton Mann had his list narrowed down to a pair of schools and late last week he decided to make his decision. The 6-foot-7 plans to play his college ball at Iowa State.

"Basically the reason was because of Coach McDermott," Mann said. "I think he does a good job up there and he's very sincere. He's a real good guy and has a nice coaching staff."

"I really like the atmosphere at Iowa State. They have great fan support and the environment is all awesome."

Iowa State head coach Greg McDermott recruited Mann while he was at Northern Iowa and was actually the first coach to send him a recruiting letter.

"I think he sent me a recruiting questionaire, it's kind of weird how that stuff works out," Mann said.

Mann, who is a straight "A" student according to his high school coach, brings knowledge of the game as well as versatility to the table.

"He got a 30 on his ACT and has honors curriculum, Overland Park (Kans.) St. Thomas Aquinas coach Sean Reilly said. "He has a great understanding of the game. He's a legitimate 6-7 and is a very good athlete running the court. He's very versatile and can create some mismatches."

Mann joins Justin Hamilton, Dominique Buckley and Wes Eikmeier to make up Iowa State's 2008 class.
