Two Down, Two To Go

Charlie Villanueva is a tough guy to track down. We had a chance to speak with the outstanding forward Tuesday night and got his thoughts on his first two visits and what he thinks about his final two trips.

Illini, Pirates Were First To Host

Charlie Villanueva has taken two official visits. He has two more scheduled. Then, it'll be time for the Long Island Panthers standout to make a decision. Here's the lowdown on where things stand.

Villanueva visited Illinois first and most recently Seton Hall. Both visits went off without a hitch and by Villanueva's account and our sources, each school should wind up figuring prominently in his decision.

"I liked pretty much everything at Illinois," Villanueva said. "The fans were unbelievable. The players just welcomed me. I liked it out there."

The same can be said for the Pirates visit. "It went pretty well. I liked it. It's going to be a hard decision. The coach, Louis Orr and Coach Nash, I loved them and it's a family environment."

Up next for Charlie is a scheduled visit with Indiana in which he'll be joined by teammate Luol Deng. "Indiana is on the 18th. They've been recruiting me for a while but I haven't said anything. Mike Davis is a good coach and he had Jared Jeffries and I compare my game to him."

Villanova has the final official visit and it'll take place the weekend following his trip to Indiana. After that, it's decision time. "After I come back from all my visits I'm going to take one or two weeks to decide. It should be by early November that I commit to the school."

Villanueva said there's not really a set of guidelines or things he's specifically looking for when he takes a visit. " I'm pretty much open to the whole thing. I let it roll and look for everything."

Villanueva said that it's way too early to call a leader and said that right now everything is equal.

The No. 5 ranked player according to TheInsidersHoops.com could have varying options this spring, depending on what the NBA guys think of his game.

"Like I said, I told all the guys that if I'm a lottery pick I'm definitely going but right now I can't judge that. The NBA is not my focus. Right now I'm worried about college first."
