Otis Ends His Recruitment

Matt Doherty and his SMU staff locked up a commitment from Frank Otis this past weekend. The 6-foot-5 power forward talked to Scout.com about his recent decision.

The Southern Methodist Mustangs picked up a good one in undersized power forward Frank Otis. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound senior gave Matt Doherty a verbal commitment a few days ago.

"Coach Doherty just kept coming out here to see me and I felt that he was real serious about me," Otis said. "I felt like I could fit in and I think he can make me a better player and a better person."

Otis is known as a high-energy guy with a motor that never stops. He does majority of his work on the glass and on the defensive end. The Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds standout thinks he can leave his mark on SMU's program.

"I think I can bring a lot of defensive intensity and just play hard. I think I can help make a big impact on that program."

Otis picked SMU over strong interest from Creighton, Cal Poly, Boise State, Idaho, Colorado State, George Mason and Loyola Marymount.
