Fortson To The SEC

Courtney Fortson, a speedy lead guard out of Patterson School by way of Alabama, is headed to the SEC.

Courtney Fortson, one of Scout.com's Top 15 post-graduate players, is headed to the Southeastern Conference. After making his official visit to Fayetteville, Fortson pledged to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

As a junior in Alabama, Fortson averaged 23 points and 7 rebounds. He's a whirling dervish scoring machine from the point guard slot.

"Obviously I'm a little biased but it's a great get for them and a perfect situation for Courtney," Patterson School coach Chris Chaney said. "For Arkansas it puts a big stamp on their recruiting right away. He's going to be able to contribute right away."

Fortson ran with the Southeast Elite traveling team in the spring and summer where his speed was on display. "He's like a pit bull on the court and a puppy dog off the court. There's nobody in the country he doesn't think he can play with. He's one of the most competitive kids I've ever hard.
