Fouch Examines His Options

Chris Fouch is one of the best shooters in the class of 2008 and he's got a number of mid-major squads vying for his services.

Chris Fouch had a pretty good July playing with the Gauchos. The 6-foot guard buried a three-pointer at the buzzer against the Georgia Blazers to win the Nike Peach Jam. Then the next week he helped the ‘Chos win the Main event in Las Vegas.

Despite picking up interest from a variety of schools in July, Fouch isn't in a hurry to make a decision.

"I'm going to wait and see what happens during the season," Fouch said. "I'm trying to take until mid-way through the season, maybe in January. I want to at least wait until we make it back from Hawaii."

Fouch currently claims scholarship offers from Houston, Manhattan, Iona, Drexel, George Washington and George Mason. He's also getting interest from South Florida and Xavier.

"I'm in a good part of the process," he said. "I like the schools that are recruiting me, but I'd also like to play it out and see who else comes. I'm looking for an up-tempo school that plays kind of like Rice and the Gauchos."

Tempo is clearly going to factor into his decision and it's one reason that a pair of schools have made their way to the top of his list.

"I like George Mason and George Washington a lot," Fouch said. "They have up-tempo guard play and I really like both of those coaching staffs."

The New York (N.Y.) Rice standout has already visited Iona, Drexel and Albany. Fouch, who is rated as a three-star prospect on Scout.com, hopes to set up a trip to South Florida soon.
