Gabriel Feels The SEC Love

Kenny Gabriel wanted to play big conference basketball and on Monday it all came together. An SEC program swept him off his feet and he's bound for one of the best leagues in the country.

The Auburn Tigers liked Kenny Gabriel the first time they saw him last spring. However, at the time, the Tigers thought getting the kid out of ACC country was a pipedream.

"Coach Lebo wasn't playing around," United Faith coach Shaun Wiseman said. "He came in and got it done. Coach watched him this summer and figured that was what he wanted (in a player). Back in the spring Lebo didn't think he could get a kid in this area away from the ACC. When they found out they had a shot at him he came right in. He offered as soon as he watched Kenny workout."

On Monday, the Tigers accepted a verbal commitment from the 6-foot-7 senior combo forward. Gabriel recently visited South Florida and the Tigers.

A bouncy athlete, Gabriel took his game to the wing and has shown the ability to knock down jump shots. He's also a big time leaper.

"He's just got to keep developing," Wiseman said. "He's got to work on his ball handling and keep adding weight. I think he knows that and he's committed to it. He listens to what we say. He's going to keep working. He'll get the added muscle that he needs."
