Cunningham Working Through Visits

Jared Cunningham, 6-3 JR PG/SG San Leandro (Calif.), is one of the top West Coast guard prospects in the 2009 class. Cunningham is an explosive athlete and he has the size to potentially play the one or two in college. He's a young-looking prospect and there's still quite a bit of upside to his game.

I spoke with Cunningham recently and asked about the schools that are recruiting him.

"The main ones are Arizona State, Washington State, Cal, San Diego State, Gonzaga and Santa Clara," said Cunningham.

Cunningham said all but Cal and Gonzaga have extended scholarship offers.

With unofficial visits already taken to Cal and Santa Clara, Cunningham has several more unofficial visits lined up.

"I'm going to San Diego State this weekend," said Cunningham. "Then I go to ASU on the 20th and then Washington State and Gonzaga from the 27th to the 30th."

I asked Cunningham if he feels like he's close to reaching a decision.

"Yes, I think I'll decide pretty soon," said Cunningham. "Probably sometime in the next three months or so."

Cunningham talked a little about the issues he'll consider when making his choice.

"Just bonding with the coaches and a good environment where I can be successful," said Cunningham. "Location doesn't really matter, but playing time is also a factor."
