Hoyas Land Scout.com's Big Prize!

Last year's return to the Final Four and the signing of two all-americans was the first steps in the resurrection of the Georgetown program. Saturday's commitment from the nation's No. 1 prospect was the capper in Hoyaland!

The Georgetown Hoyas had a ton of prospects on campus for Midnight Madness, none of them as important as Scout.com's top ranked prospect Greg Monroe. While the Hoyas have recruited extremely well the past few seasons, the commitment of Monroe is John Thompson's crowning recruiting achievement.

"I'm in the process of calling everyone right now," Gretna (La.) Cox coach Tyrone Mouzon told Scout.com. "I'm trying to get in touch with Duke right now."

The news is fresh coming out of Hoyaland and its big. "Basically coming up here and being with the guys, that sealed it," one source told Scout.com.

Monroe, the top ranked player in America, will be the 4th McDonald's All-American signed by Thompson since his arrival and the program's most significant recruit in sometime.

Mouzon knows the importance of Monroe. Cox, only a few years ago was a converted junior high before Monroe put it on the map.

"It's huge just even having him here at this little school that was a junior high school. Now we've ended up with the No. 1 player in the country."

LSU, Duke, Texas and Connecticut comprised the other finalists.
