Late Signing Looks Likely
Rashad Nixon, a strong student-athlete and perimeter scoring threat, is starting to gather some attractive college options. He averaged 15 points a game last season at Oxon Hill, playing alongside Kent State forward Chris Williams.
Nixon said he's receiving heavy Ivy League interest and with that comes a much longer admissions process. "With the Ivy League schools you have to wait for the SAT scores so it's a different process," Nixon said. Yale, Brown and Penn are in the hunt. DePaul is sniffing around as well. But, Nixon said there are a lot more schools keeping tabs on him.
Nixon visited Penn unofficially in the summer. He played at selected events last summer with Team Excel. "I went to VCU early for the NBA Camp. Then, I went to Eastern Invitational. I played so much with Oxon Hill."
The early signing period might not be an option for Nixon. "I'm probably going to sign late." But, he'll probably take some visits. "I'll probably do a few early and save a few for later. I want to feel comfortable with the school and pick the best school for me where I'll fit into the program."
