Simpson Picks Big Ten Program

Illinois continued their recent recruiting success on Monday, as they picked up Stan Simpson.

Bruce Weber is on a roll. Last week the Illinois coach picked up commitments from Joseph Betrand, Brandon Paul and D.J. Richardson and Monday evening Weber picked up Stan Simpson.

"When they went on the visit they just felt comfortable with it," Robert Smith, of Chicago (Ill.) Simeon, said. "They came home and took some time to think about it, because Arkansas was their number one school at first."

"After they went to Illinois they got comfortable with the coaching staff and the players and they felt like it was the school for him."

According to Smith, the 6-foot-9, 220-pound center will bring athleticism and rebounding to the table once he makes it to Champaign.

"He's very athletic, rebounds the ball well he blocks shots and he can get up and down the floor. But he's still got to get stronger."

Prior to picking the Illini, Simpson had narrowed his list to Illinois and Arkansas.
