No. 58 Jones To Play In Big East

Mookie Jones will officially end his Tuesday afternoon. The Top 100 prospect is going to attend a Big East program next fall.

The Syracuse Orangemen earmarked Mookie Jones as one of their elite targets last spring. The 6-foot-7 small forward is's No. 58 prospect and No. 13 small forward.

A Shawn Marion look-a-like, Jones visited Syracuse last weekend, returned home and quickly called a 3 p.m. press conference at his school. Meanwhile, calls went out to college programs.

"I feel very confident in telling you that he's going to Syracuse," a source said.

Jones visited Marquette and DePaul officially and will cancel trips scheduled for Rutgers and St. John's.

Jones' rangy body and versatile game likely prompted the Orangemen to envision him as a Demetrius Nichols clone that can play on the perimeter and defend both forward slots.

Last year at Peekskill (N.Y.) High he averaged 22.6 points and 11 rebounds.
