Dominic Cheek, a 6-foot-6 (and growing) shooting guard out of Jersey City (N.J.) St. Anthony's acknowledges his favorite school right now is North Carolina.
"It's true," Cheek said. "The coach and the atmosphere, plus they're one of the elite schools. It's a place that can get me to next level and hopefully win an NCAA Championship."
Last weekend Cheek was on UNC's campus for "Late Night With Roy." There was speculation that he might pull the trigger for the Tar Heels but after coming back home Cheek isn't ready to end the process yet.
"I don't think I'll be committing anytime soon. I don't think so."
However, his visit to UNC couldn't have gone any better. "It was great. It was something that I never experienced before. I walked in and there was 20,000 people there. People were holding up t-shirts with my name on it. The atmosphere was crazy."
Cheek, who says he's growing like a weed and is now 6-7, gets a new call from a different school "every day." After last summer his recruitment took on a life of its own and now he's one of the elite scoring guards in America.
We don't know who is going to get this prospect in the end but he'll be worth the fight and the wait for his pledge.
Cheek is ranked the No. 7 overall prospect and No. 2 shooting guard in the Class of 2009.
