Swopshire Picks His School

Jared Swopshire took a trio of official visits and on his final one, he made a verbal commitment. The 6-foot-7, 180-pound forward will play his college ball in the Big East.

The Louisville Cardinals commitment streak continues. Last week the Cards picked up Kyle Kuric and Terrence Jennings and Saturday evening Jared Swopshire joined the crew, as he gave Rick Pitino and his coaching staff a verbal commitment

"Coach Pitino is a great coach," Swopshire said. "With what they have to offer I just think it's the best fit for me. That's the reason I chose Louisville."

"He really, really pushes his players and helps them improve," he continued. "They are losing a lot of guys and that's another opportunity for me to come in and play. I get along with their guys really well and I just think it's a great fit for me."

The Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy standout said he was recruited to play a variety of positions and feels he can make an impact right away.

"Anywhere from the two, three or four," the four star prospect said. "Basically wherever the mismatches are and where they need me to play is where I'm going to play."

Swopshire, Kuric and Jennings will join Samardo Samuels and Melquan Bolding to make up the Cardinals recruiting class. Despite already having commitments from five prospects, Louisville is still heavily pursuing Tyreke Evans.

"We got a great recruiting class," Swopshire said. "We'll get all the guys in and work hard together and hopefully we'll make it to the Final Four."

Swopshire, who picked Louisville over Marquette and Clemson, checked in at No. 89 in Scout.com's most recent rankings.
