Gilchrist To Play In ACC After All

Gus Gilchrist, a center ranked No. 55 in the Class of 2007, has reached a second decision to play in the ACC.

Gus Gilchrist, according to his trainer Terrell Woody, is going to enroll at Maryland in January and then redshirt. The 55th ranked player in the nation by Scout.com in the Class of 2007, is finished high school and will be ready to play for the Terrapins in the fall of 2008.

Gilchrist signed with Virginia Tech last year and then sought his release from the Hokies late last spring. He considered Georgetown, West Virginia and Virginia this time around.

"He really likes the guys at Maryland," Woody told Scout.com. "They're nice guys and they were great with his recruitment. He loved Keith Booth. He worked out with some of the guys like Braxton Dupree and it made it real comfortable for him in terms of his decision."

The 6-foot-10 Gilchrist, a center by trade, should slide right into Maryland's offense. "They see him fitting in as a four in the flex offense. He can get the ball going to the basket and post up. He can do a lot of things within the flex offense."
