2009 Introduction: Tim Harris

Tim Harris, a talented scorer from San Jose (Calif.), will have plenty of schools to choose from when he makes his college choice...

Tim Harris, 6-3 JR SG San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian, is one of the better wings in the West Coast class of 2009. Harris is more of a scorer than a pure shooter and he's adept at creating his shot off the wing.

I spoke with Harris over the weekend and he gave a me a list of schools that have been expressing interest in him.

"Washington, Utah, UNLV, Pepperdine, Nebraska, Gonzaga, Santa Clara San Diego State and Cal," said Harris. "Those schools have sent coaches out to see me at my high school. I'm also getting letters from Kansas and I would be very interested in them as well."

I asked Harris if the schools have formally offered a scholarship.

"No, not really formally," said Harris. "Most of them have said ‘we have a scholarship for you any time you want' – that kind of thing."

I asked Harris what he is looking for in a school.

"Probably being able to play soon – I don't want go someplace and sit for a couple years," said Harris. "I know it's tough to play as a freshman, but I'd like to play some early. I want to go someplace that is comfortable for me and my family. Someplace where they have a good graduation rate and a good basketball program overall. Location isn't really important, but my Dad said he'd like for it to be somewhere from the Midwest to the West – someplace that is within a two-hour plane ride."

Harris has a timeframe in mind for making his decision.

"I'll probably decide after the AAU season next summer and probably it'll be sometime around this time next year," said Harris.

Harris told me he has a 3.5 GPA.
