Bob Huggins and the West Virginia Mountaineers secured a commitment that should prove to be important down the road. Roscoe Davis, a 6-foot-10 Top 100 caliber power forward out of the D.C.-area via Hargrave Military, pledged to Huggins.
"It all happened pretty quickly," Hargrave coach Kevin Keatts said. "He went last weekend for an official visit and when he got back he told me Monday night that committed while he was on campus. He decided it was where he wanted to go and made the commitment to those guys."
The Mountaineers have themselves a hybrid big man, who according to Keatts, brings a lot of upside to the table. "He runs the floor as good as anyone in the country if not better. He's one of those new breed forwards. At his size he can run the floor, shoot it and beat you off the dribble."
Davis runs with the D.C. Assault traveling team. Over the past few seasons he's bounced back and forth between different high schools. However, at Hargrave, he's experiencing a rebirth as a prospect. He's achieving on the court and getting himself together in the classroom.
"Since he got here he's played with much more confidence. He's asserting himself like he did at the end of the summer. He had a great live period and he ended up getting to the form he was at when he was a freshman and sophomore."
