Taylor To The Big East

One of the best available point guards is no longer on the board. Tyshawn Taylor, a standout from St. Anthony's, ended his recruitment Monday night.

Tyshawn Taylor, Scout.com's 18th ranked point guard from the Class of 2008 is off the board and headed to Marquette. The 6-foot-2 Taylor, a senior out of famed St. Anthony's, picked the program over Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and Kansas. North Carolina recently began calling.

"I just felt so comfortable there when I went to visit," Taylor said of his trip last weekend. "I loved it there on the visit."

A Jersey native, Taylor now gets to play occasionally in front of his family. Initially playing in the Big East wasn't that big of a deal but as the process went on, Taylor began warming to the idea of having his mom see him often on road games.

Marquette offered Taylor an opportunity to log big minutes as a freshman and one of the standout from the inaugural Reebok U jumped on the chance. "It's the style of play," Taylor said of the choice. "They get up and down and they like to run. I can play right away and I like the school a lot."

As a junior Taylor averaged 9.8 points for a loaded club that should have well over a half dozen Division I players before the signing period ends.
