Akinpetide Racks Up Wins

Scout.com caught up with Montverde skipper Kevin Sutton to get an update on Femi Akinpetide, who will be his fourth Division 1 signee this year.

Kevin Sutton has had quite a few prospects roll through Montverde (Fla.) Academy and the one that will graduate with the most all time wins is likely someone most recruiting fans have never heard of.

Femi Akinpetide, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound senior, has been at Montverde for three years and this year he's making the transition from the post out to the wing.

"He's the captain of the team and he's a leader in our school," Sutton said. "He's just an outstanding student from Australia. We call him the glue guy. He really holds this team together in a number of different ways."

Thus far, Akinpetide is getting strong interest from a number of schools including Boston University, Quinnipiac, Harvard, Florida Atlantic, Stetson, Tulsa and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

"He'll be our fourth senior that will commit to a Division 1 school by the middle of the year or end of the year for sure."

Sutton has already had Dashan Harris commit to Texas A&M, Steve Tchiengang verbal to Vanderbilt and Marcus Capers commit to Washington State.

"The kid is an honor roll student. He's been in our program for three years and when he graduates this year he'll graduate as the all time winningest player in my program. He'll be on three teams that have been nationally ranked."

Akinpetide will likely wait until the spring to make his college decision.
