One To Watch
Marcus Hammond knows he can play and everyday he'll set out to prove himself right. To prove that the guy who consistently drained 3-pointers at Nike Camp did get overlooked.
"I'm working out every day and shooting and getting in the gym a little bit," Hammond said. As for his recruiting? "It's getting better as the year goes on." And, it will continue to improve once the word gets out.
So far, he hasn't taken any official visits. His list reads UAB, Vanderbilt, Youngstown State, Central Florida and UNC-Wilmington, which is keeping in touch. Mississippi State sent an assistant to see him and so did Vanderbilt during the contact period.
Central Florida made a wise move and stepped up and offered him a scholarship. "I like Central Florida. I'm hoping I might get [a visit] in."
Hammond will no doubt receive his share of publicity this season. His high school team is loaded with good, young talent. "We're looking good right now. We're kind of young but we're looking good. Hopefully, we can take some larger steps this year and make it to the states and then win it. We have the talent' we've just got to pull it together."
