The LaSalle Explorers ventured south for the program's latest pledge. Recently, 6-foot-10 David Baroum committed to the program. Baroum is a native of Chad who is in his first season at Hampton (Va.) Bethel.
"He didn't play AAU because he needed to workout and get better," Ed Huckaby, a former D-I assistant and current Bethel assistant, told Scout.com. "Coaches came in during the summer and a bunch came in during the fall. He could play upper level; people would have seen that if he were out."
Baroum has been in the country less than a year and had programs from the ACC to the CAA in to see him workout. However, it was the A-10's Explorers that pursued him the hardest and landed him in the end.
"LaSalle is a great fit for him," Huckaby said. "People are going to play you like they recruit you and nobody outworked LaSalle for him. They made a commitment and they want to make him the face of the program."
Baroum speaks five languages, does well in school and should have an opportunity to see the floor early in his collegiate career.
