Drake Makes Successful Move
Nick Grant never envisioned himself playing basketball in Iowa. But, once he visited Drake's campus he was quickly swayed.
"Actually, I didn't know much about them," Grant said. "I heard of them and didn't know they were in Iowa. I had a great time. The people made the decision easy. The players were so cool and the coaches were great."
Drake has two players on its current roster from the East Coast. But, it wasn't the schools ties to that part of the country that first alerted them to Grant. "I know they had seen me in Florida and down at the Eastern Invitational. I think a counselor at DeMatha recommended me. Then, they came to a couple of my open gyms and decided I was perfect for them."
Grant received interest from Richmond and Kent State, but both schools went in other directions. Towson offered and was to receive an official visit from him next weekend, but that trip will be cancelled in light of the commitment.
In the end, Drake was the perfect fit for him. "They said that they really needed a slasher. I went to their practice and they had a lot of good shooters. They said I could come in and play immediately."
