Jesse Hazely, 6-6 JR PF Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita, is a prospect who showed quite a bit of improvement in the last year. While he's a bit undersized at this time, Hazely is a good rebounder and he has a good frame.
I spoke with Hazely recently and he said two schools, in particular, are showing him quite a bit of interest.
"I took unofficial visits to UC Santa Barbara and San Diego," said Hazely. "I really like Santa Barbara. They've probably been recruiting me the hardest so far. And San Diego really has a nice campus as well."
Hazely said he's also hearing from a couple schools back East.
"I've been getting calls from Cornell and Brown also," said Hazely.
When I asked Hazely what he is looking for in a school, he replied, "I'm mainly looking at the location and the campus. I'd kind of like to stay on the West Coast for my family."
Hazely sounds like he's going to spend some time before making his decision.
"Next summer will be big in terms of looking at schools," said Hazely. "I'm willing to wait until my senior year to pick a school."
