C-USA Lands Select Point Guard

Troy Aaron had a list of criteria that he wanted met. So, when he sat down to figure out his college plans, he picked the one that met all of his needs.

Tulane Lands Guard

Troy Aaron, a point guard with the Louisiana Select AAU program, committed to Tulane. The most recent Select player to pick Tulane was shooting guard Ben Benfield, a sophomore for coach Shawn Finney.

"I had four things on my list that I was looking for in a college and they filled all four of them," Aaron said. The guard wanted to be relatively close to home, play a good amount as a freshman, receive a good education and have an opportunity to play in the NBA. While there's work to be done before the last item can be contemplated, Tulane was able to offer him what he wanted.

"I feel real close to the coaching staff. We've bonded over the years."

Aaron was offered by Louisiana Tech, McNeese State and Lafayette. He averaged 24 points a game last year.

"It's a big burden off my shoulders."
