Thompson Will Head East

One of the best wings in the 2009 class is off the board, as Hollis Thompson made a verbal commitment on Wednesday.

Hollis Thompson, of Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola, is one of the best wings in the class of 2009 and he's officially off the board, as he gave Georgetown a verbal commitment on Wednesday.

"What I really liked about John Thompson was that he told me he doesn't recruit positions, he recruits players," Thompson said.

The 6-foot-6, 180-pound wing received strong interest from Duke, Stanford, Florida, North Carolina Arizona and UCLA. He also took trips to a number of schools, including Georgetown for midnight madness.

"It was a difficult decision because every school had a lot of great things to offer," he said.

"Its been a very long recruiting process and I felt I wanted to get it out of the way," Thompson said. "I wanted to stay focused and let the world know."

The Hoyas have had a tremendous amount of success on the recruiting trail as of late, and checked in at No. 3 in Scout.com's recent recruiting class rankings. Thompson is the first prospect to commit to Georgetown for the 2009 class.

Thompson is ranked as the 2nd best small forward in the class of 2009.
