The 6-foot-9, 205-pound power forward, who put up 25 points and 12 rebounds in his last scrimmage, has one more scrimmage game and then is set to take on Oak Hill on December 5th.
"I'm ready because I'm trying to keep moving up," Painter said of the match up with Oak Hill. "I want to establish myself when we play them. I'm just trying to get that one, I want to upset that one."
Although Painter doesn't feel he's established enough yet, he certainly is among college coaches, as he's already getting strong interest from Duke, Ohio State, Florida, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Louisville and North Carolina.
Among the schools recruiting him, he said the Tar Heels are the only school that hasn't offered him a scholarship. With the interest pouring in, Painter's next step is to take some visits.
"I'm supposed to be going to some schools, but I don't know right now," Painter said. "Almost all of them have asked, but I really don't know because I don't know what my schedule is looking like."
Painter, who is ranked No. 8 overall and No. 3 at the power forward spot in the 2009 class, said he doesn't want to rush the recruiting process and will likely wait it out.
"I'm probably going to wait a while," he said. "I'm open and I really don't know right now. They are all about the same."
