Fouch Ends His Recruitment

Chris Fouch has been thinking about the recruiting process for quite some time and on Monday night he made his pick.

One of the best shooters in the class of 2008 is off the board, as Chris Fouch made his college decision late last night. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound guard is headed to Drexel.

"First off my mother was real comfortable with the coaching staff," Fouch said. "They have a good academic program there and I feel like academics are first before basketball."

"As far as the team and the coaches, I felt like they were the right for me," he continued. "I know a lot of kids at the school, so I felt very welcome."

Fouch, a standout at New York (N.Y.) Rice, also liked the fact that he could play for James "Bruiser" Flint.

"He's a real cool guy and straight forward," Fouch said. "He doesn't hold anything back, he let me know how he coaches. He's a hard coach, but very genuine so I appreciated him being honest with me and I've played for hard coaches all my life and I like to play for the hardest."

This is the second 2008 prospect to commit to Drexel out of the New York Gauchos AAU progam. Kevin Phillip made a verbal in mid-October, and that had a big impact on Fouch's decision.

"When we played together in the summer we did a lot of good things together," Fouch said. "Like at Peach Jam I made a pass to him to win one of the games, so we had a good relationship over the summer and that helped me pick it."

To go with Fouch and Phillip, Drexel also has a commitment from Sam Givens. Fouch picked the Dragons over scholarship offers from Iona, Fairfield and George Mason.
