Robert Smith, 5-11 JR PG Perris (Calif.) High, is a talented point with a very good feel for the position. He's one of the top players at his position in the west for 2009.
I spoke with Smith recently and he gave me his current list of schools.
"I'm hearing from Nebraska, Cal, San Diego State, Oregon, USC, Portland, Santa Clara and Utah," said Smith.
When asked if he has a feel for which programs have been recruiting him the hardest, Smith replied, "Nebraska, Cal and Santa Clara came out to see me the most. They've been showing the most interest."
Smith has taken an unofficial visit to San Diego State. I asked him if he has any programs in mind that he'll definitely visit.
"I'll go to Nebraska and Cal for sure," said Smith.
Smith talked a little about the factors that will influence his choice.
"The style of play is big," said Smith. "Also, the lifestyle, what the school looks like and the campus."
Smith said he doesn't plan on making his decision until after the summer. He said he currently has a 3.0 GPA.
