Rodney Black, 6-4 JR SG Moreno Valley (Calif.) Valley View, is a very intriguing wing prospect. He's got a good frame, with long arms, and a very nice stroke to the stripe. He's still learning how to create his own shot, but his deep range is going to get him plenty of looks from college coaches.
I spoke with Black recently and asked about the programs he's heard from to date.
"Syracuse, Nebraska, Oregon, UC Riverside, Pacfic and Wyoming," said Black. "Pacific, Wyoming and Riverside have all come out to my school."
I asked Black if he has a feel for which program is recruiting him the hardest.
"Riverside has been showing the most interest so far," said Black.
Black said he has one unofficial visit lined up.
"I'm going to visit Syracuse on Frebruary 16th," said Black. "And I've been to Pepperdine."
Black talked a little about what he is looking for in a school.
"Good academics, the campus and lifestyle, and coaching experience," said Black. "The location doesn't really matter."
Black doesn't sound like he'll be making his choice anytime soon.
"I'll probably play through the summer and decide after," said Black.
Black said he currently has a 2.6 GPA.
