Big Weekend Ahead

There are a handful of quality high school events this weekend, and will be three of them to check out a number of big time prospects including DeShaun Thomas, Brandon Jennings, Scotty Hopson and DeAndre Liggins.

The high school season is underway and is ready to hit the road and take in some big time basketball. This weekend we'll head to a trio of events that are absolutely loaded with talent.

Marshall County Hoopfest

Our coverage will kick off Friday at the Marshall County Hoopfest where's National Recruiting Director, Dave Telep, will be stationed to take in some of the best the Bluegrass State has to offer, as well as some of the better teams in the country.

The event held in Benton, Ky., is one of's favorites, as the whole town shows up to check out the national talent, and is one of the best atmospheres for watching high school basketball games.

Although Friday is just a tune up compared to the Hoopfests schedule for Saturday, there will still be a handful of top-notch prospects on hand, including Leslie McDonald, Johnnie Williams and Brett Thompson.

Jennings Heads To Benton
Then Saturday the action really picks up and is headlined's No. 7 overall prospect, Brandon Jennings, of Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill, and's No. 11 prospect, Scotty Hopson, of Hopkinsville (Ky.) University Heights.

To go with those two, the event will also include DeAndre Liggins, Clarence Trent, Joe Jackson, Deividas Dulkys, Carlos Lopez, Dakatuh Euton, Chad Jackson, Joe Jackson, Keith Gallon, Dan Jennings, Matt Humphrey, Anthony Johnson, Chris Colvin, Stan Simpson, DeQuan Jones, Ari Stewart and Richard Howell.

2K Sports All-American Shootout

While Telep will take in the action from the Hoopfest, Evan Daniels, a Recruiting Analyst, will hit the road to cover a pair of events. On Friday he'll be in Louisville, Ky., for the 2K Sports All-American Shootout.

The event, which is being produced by The Gazelle Group, features Tyreke Evans, Lamont "MoMo" Jones, Martez Walker, Jared Swopshire, Kenny Kadji and Lance Stephenson.

Action will tip off at 7 PM, when Brooklyn (NY) Lincoln takes on Louisville (KY) St. Xavier. Following that game, Brandenton (FL) IMG Academy matches up with Evans and Aston (PA) American Christian.

Circle City Classic Challenge of Champions

Following the Shootout, Daniels will head two hours north on I-65 to the Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for the Circle City Classic Challenge of Champions, which is loaded with young talent.

This event will give us a look at 2010 phenom DeShaun Thomas, as well as Stephan Van Treese, Dominique Ferguson, Colt Ryan, Julian Mavunga, Angel Garcia, DeShaun Thomas, Julius Mays and Walter Offutt.
