Air Force Picks Up Forward

Jeff Reynolds and staff found a post player in Oregon that fit their frontcourt need.

Jeff Reynolds' Air Force Falcons won a recruiting battle with Hawaii recently and added power forward Sam Schaffer to their current 2008 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-9 Oregon City (Ore.) High product visited Hawaii but was excited about the prospects of playing for the Falcons according to his father, Jay Schaffer.

"It got down to those final two. He had a great trip to Hawaii. However, he's very academically driven and loves the academy and the military service. He loves their style of basketball."

Two of Schaffer's other sons had been recruited by the Academy and didn't attend but this time around, Reynolds' program seemed to be an excellent match.

"They love his aggressive, complete game style. He's a vocal leader and they like how he hustles and takes charges. He needs to develop his shooting because he's been an ultimate team player. They want him to work on becoming more of a scorer.

"Their players play all positions and they'll use him in and out. Strength and shooting are the two things he needs to work on the most."
