Chris Cunningham, 6-7 JR C Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch, is a skilled young big man with a nice touch around the basket. Cunningham isn't a high flyer, but he's got a nice feel for the game and he knows how to use his body in the paint. While it's still too early to make a definitive call on his ultimate level, he is getting some interest from a number of high major programs.
I spoke with Cunningham recently and asked about the schools he's heard from to date.
"Kentucky, Indiana, Georgetown, USC, Kansas, Washington, Stanford, Gonzaga, Louisville and Santa Clara," said Cunningham.
I asked Cunningham if he has had a chance to visit any schools yet.
"I've been to USC and UCLA on unofficials," said Cunningham. "Those are the only ones so far."
Cunningham talked a little about the issues he'll consider when making his choice.
"I want to play in a championship program -- a very competitive program," said Cunningham. "And strong academics are important."
Cunningham said he's nowhere close to making a decision.
"I really don't have any idea on a timeframe," said Cunningham. "I don't have a favorite right now."
Cunningham said he has a 3.3 GPA.
