Holiday Tournaments Tip Off Today

With Christmas just a week away, it's time for the holiday tournaments to get started and will have coverage from three of the best events in the country.

City of Palms Classic

The Holiday tournaments start today and's coverage will kick off this evening, as Dave Telep,'s National Recrcuiting Director, is in Fort Myers (Fla.) for the City of Palms Classic. The five day event will run until the 22nd.

Known for always having quality teams and big time prospects, City of Palms organizer Donnie Wilkie didn't disappoint this year, as he landed the top two prospects in the 2008 class, Greg Monroe and Samardo Samuels.

To go with Monroe and Samuels, Greg Echenique, Reggie Bullock, Ray Shipman, Eloy Vargas, Kenny Boynton and Larry Drew are also guys that headline the event. Every team plays during the first two days of action.

Amare Stoudemire Invitational Classic

Sidney And Tyler Could Meet Up
The Amare Stoudemire Invitational Classic's inaugural year looks like it could have one of the best fields in the country. The headliners are 2009 standout Renardo Sidney and the best player in the 2010 class Jeremy Tyler, who will likely meet up and go head-to-head in the second round of the event.

The ASIC will run from Wednesday the 19th through Saturday the 22nd. will have recruiting analyst Evan Daniels in Davenport (Fla.) for the duration of the four-day event.

Al-Farouq Aminu is the best 2008 prospect in the event, which also includes JaMychal Geen, Kenny Kadji, Jared Swopshire, Taariq Muhammad, Jordan Hamilton, Aaron Moore, Teeng Akol, Scottie Haralson, David Loubeau and Ray Willis.

Although a few teams received byes, majority of the field will play on the first day of the tournament.

Wednesday, December 19
3:00 PM – St. Jude (AL) vs. Urspring Basketball Academy (Germany)
4:30 PM – Atlanta Westlake (GA) vs. Provine (MS)
6:00 PM – Norcross (GA) vs. Westlake Prepatory (FL)
7:30 PM – Fairfax (CA) vs. Bartow (FL)
9:00 PM – IMG Academy (FL) vs. Kathleen (FL)
10:30 PM – Lakeland (FL) vs. Compton Dominguez (CA)

The event also includes San Diego High (CA), Neumann Goretti (PA), Lake Wales (FL) and Orlando Christian Prep (FL).

Chick-Fil-A Classic

The Chick-Fil-A Classic is one of the more underrated events this year, but it certainly has a strong field. Although will only be in Columbia (SC) for one day (the 22nd), it will give us a chance to see a few Top 100 prospects.

In the 2008 class Ty Walker, Miles Plumlee and Murphy Holloway will all be in attendance. As far as underclassmen go, Lorenzo Brown, Milton Jennings and Mason Plumlee are the stars of the field.

Games start on Wednesday night, but majority of the teams don't play until Thursday.
