Lewis Picks American
First, point guard Linas Lekavicius made a pledge to Jeff Jones' American program. Now, the Eagles have landed a forward.
Sekou Lewis, a native of Cleveland and a product of Mike Duncan's Cleveland Basketball Club, committed to American on Monday. He was set to also take an official visit to St. Francis (PA) but that trip has since been cancelled. UNC-Wilmington also showed early interest.
"The people in the Midwest saw him when he was playing with St. V's," IMG coach Mike Moreau said. "He came here in the spring of last year as soon as their season ended and was able to advance his offensive game." Lewis played alongside LeBron James last season and is a fifth year prep at IMG.
The athletic Lewis is versatile enough to move around in American's offense. "He shoots the ball better than you would think from the perimeter," Moreau said. "He can finish around the basket and is kind of a slasher. He's not spectacular like fly through the lane and dunk but he's a solid small forward who can play back to the basket and can take his man off the dribble."
