Massamba Makes Commitment

After contemplating interest from a number of schools, Brice Massamba came to a decision on Wednesday. The big man is headed to the Mountain West Conference.

As more and more big men made commitments, Brice Massamba received more college interest, but in the long run it was the school that was there first that made the biggest impact.

"UNLV had him on a visit in the fall and it was the only visit he's taken," Findlay assistant Todd Simon said. "They did a good job and they were really ahead of the curve with Brice and with having him in their backyard they were able to establish that relationship early."

Massamba picked the Running Rebels over interest from Nebraska, Connecticut, Cincinnati, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Nevada, St. John's, New Mexico, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Delaware and Auburn.

"Brice is very found of Coach Kruger," Simon said. "He likes his style and the way he communicates with players and thinks he's overall a great person. Two, I think the people in Las Vegas have done a great job with him because he's kind of an adopted son of Las Vegas."

The 6-foot-10, 255-pound center was shooting 80-percent from the field and averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds prior to his knee injury in mid-December. He's expected to be ready to play by January 11th against Rise Academy

The Findlay Prep standout joins Deshawn Mitchell, of Tacoma (Wash.) Monmouth Academy, and Darris Santee, a junior college prospect, to make up UNLV's three member class.
