Greg Smith, 6-8 JR C Fresno (Calif.) Edison, is one of the top big men in the west for 2009. Smith has a very good body, with huge hands and feet. His offensive low-post game is still a work in progress, but Smith has a significant upside.
I spoke with Smith recently and he gave me a list of schools that have been recruiting him.
"USC, UCLA, Fresno State, Kansas State, Washington State, Cal, Georgia Tech and Washington," said Smith.
When asked if any schools stand out from the group, Smith replied, "USC, Fresno State and UCLA are my top three."
Smith said several programs have offered a scholarship.
"USC, Fresno State, Kansas State, Cal and Washington have offered," said Smith.
I asked Smith if there is anything in particular he is looking for in a school.
"Good coaches and good guards to play with," said Smith. "And I'd like to stay on the West Coast."
Smith said he isn't close to reaching a decision.
"I'll probably decide before my senior season," said Smith. "It'll be after the summer."
Smith said he's averaging 17 points and 17 rebounds a game this year. He also said he had a 3.0 GPA this past semester.
