Diarra Picks C-USA School

Konimba Diarra is headed to Conference USA. The New American senior, a big physical presence, narrowed his choices to three before deciding.

USF Lands Diarra

Konimba Diarra, a native of Mali, has reached a decision. He considered South Florida, Stony Brook and St. Joe's, according to Our Savior New American coach Ron Stelzer.

"He says he's going to South Florida," Stelzer said. Diarra apparently visited each of the campuses this fall.

At 6-9 and 230 pounds, Diarra is a man in the paint. He's strong and bullish. He showed improvement while playing for the Minuteman Press team this summer. Right now, he's a raw offensively. He averaged just 5 points but did pull down 7 rebounds a game for Our Savior last year.

"He's just finishing a little more authoritatively," Stelzer said of Diarra's improvement. "He's growing in his presence around the basket."
