Lorne Jackson, 6-1 SR PG/SG Simi Valley (Calif.) High, is one of the top uncommitted players in the west for 2008. Jackson had a great showing at the Torrey Pines tournament last month, showing off his ability to score, as well as a very good feel for the game.
I spoke with Jackson recently and asked about the programs that are recruiting him.
"The main ones are USC, Butler, American, UC Riverside and San Diego," said Jackson. "San Diego offered. USC has been showing a little bit of interest. If they offer, that's where I'll go."
Jackson said he attended the recent USC/Washington State game and he took a visit to American last summer. He said he hopes to take a visit to Riverside.
He talked a little about the issues he'll consider when making his choice.
"The coaches, the players, a good atmosphere," said Jackson. "Location doesn't really mattter. Early time is a consideration, but if I don't get much time my freshman year I'll deal with it and get better so they have to play me."
Jackson said that he hasn't narrowed down his list and he's definitely open to hearing from other schools.
"I'll probably decide after the season," said Jackson.
A good student, Jackson said he has a 3.7 GPA.
