Top 100 Recruits On Visits

We're coming down the home stretch in terms of big time official visit weekends. Pretty soon that Nov. 15 signing day will be here. With that said, here's a reminder of some of the bigger names making campus visits this weekend.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

The race to land Charlie Villanueva is a tight one. So far, Illinois, Seton Hall and upstart Indiana have played weekend host. This weekend, Jay Wright and the boys from the Main Line get to show him around the Villanova campus. Remember, Charlie and Jason Fraser once teamed up to help the Long Island Panthers win the 2001 Big Time.

Luol Deng rarely makes public comments about his recruitment and that's probably why he's one of the bigger producers of rumor and innuendo in the Class of 2003. Well, he and Villanueva have a plan to announce in early November and this weekend's Duke trip is the final one on his docket. Will it be Missouri, the Devils, Virginia or Indiana?

Olu Famutimi is down to three schools and he's been to Memphis and Arkansas already. That means Missouri this weekend is his final visit. If he doesn't feel comfortable – which we think is highly unlikely – Kentucky and Florida would offer visits. We think he decides from the three schools he's taken official trips to.

Wesley Green's fifth and final visit is to DePaul this weekend. Trying to explain Big Wesley's five trips can get complicated. Florida State hosted him first and one minute he's committed to the ‘Noles and the next they are no longer in the mix. Then, he visited Tennessee and while the Vols gave him a chance to commit, he was slow with the trigger and Major Wingate took UT's final grant. Indiana was No. 3 but the Hoosiers didn't press him for a commitment and the sides parted ways. Marquette was the fourth trip and our sources indicate that the Golden Eagles didn't get the feeling that the program was a good fit and opted to not go for the commitment and are no longer recruiting him. That leaves DePaul and reportedly South Carolina. If DePaul and Green isn't a match he would have to visit South Carolina on his own dime.

The last Top 100 player from Raleigh that wasn't pursued hard by Duke, NC State or UNC? Chris Wilcox. We aren't saying Anthony Tucker is another Wilcox but he does appear to be leaving the area like the former Terrapin did. "PJ" is on Texas' campus this weekend and we think the ‘Horns are hunting for a commitment.

Ronnie Brewer has made the rounds and he's not finished. Oklahoma and Arkansas hosted him on visits and UConn takes it cut this weekend followed by Oklahoma State the following weekend.
