Junior PG Picks Hokies

Seth Greenberg dialed up the point guard from one of Virginia's top high school teams. Erik Green is the latest junior to pick the Hokies.

The Virginia Tech Hokies rung up a 2009 point guard from their own "540" area code.

Recently, 6-foot-2 lead guard Erik Green selected Seth Greenberg's program after considering a host of other schools. Green captains the Winchester (Va.) Millbrook squad which is 16-1 and currently the top-rated 2-A team in the state.

"They were the 4th school that offered him," Millbrook coach Scott Mankins told Scout.com. "George Mason and James Madison offered in the summer and then St. Joe's. Virginia Tech offered him in the middle of the fall.

"He visited all four of the schools on more than one occasion. It was relatively close to home and he had always dreamed of playing in the ACC. All of the schools were good academically but everyone kept telling him if it feels right to make the decision."

Green runs with Triple Threat on the traveling team circuit. For Millbrook he's good for 19 points, 3 assists and 5 rebounds.

"He's got a high basketball IQ. He understands both ends of the floor and his ball handling is strength. He needs to add a little body weight and be consistent with his confidence level."

Mankins said that with each trip to Blacksburg, Green became more and more comfortable with the Hokies.
