Marshall Still Wide Open

Anthony Marshall, a talented junior guard from Las Vegas, has schools from across the country expressing interest in him...

Anthony Marshall, 6-1 JR SG/PG Las Vegas (Nev.) Mojave, isn't real known outside of the west, but he's a terrific prospect. A lefty with above-average athleticism and a solid shot to the stripe, Marshall plays with great energy and feel for the game. I spoke with Marshall recently and he gave me a list of schools that have been in contact with him.

"Kansas, USC, Tennessee, UCLA, Texas, Bradley, Miami, Virginia, Colorado State, Gonzaga and UNLV," said Marshall.

Marshall said Colorado State and UNLV have extended scholarship offers.

When asked if he had a feel for which programs have been recruiting him the hardest, Marshall said, "Colorado State, Miami and UNLV have been showing the most effort."

I asked Marshall if he has a timeframe for making his choice.

"I'm focused on the playoffs and then the state right now," said Marshall. "I want to use the spring and summer to get better and work on my game. I think I'll end up making my decision in the fall sometime."

Marshall talked a little about the factors that are important to him in picking a college.

"I'd like to have some early time. Not necessarily to start, but I think I can come in and contribute," said Marshall. "I'm looking for a great program, a great coach, great fan base and a winning team. Location isn't really a factor for me."

Marshall said he's averaging 19 points, nine rebounds and eight assists a game for a Mojave team that is currently 21-1.

A good student, Marshall said he has a 3.5 GPA.
