2010 Introduction: Anthony Brown

Anthony Brown has a chance to be one of the better wings in the class of 2010. He tells us several West Coast programs have been showing early interest in him...

Anthony Brown, 6-6 SO SF Huntington Beach (Calif.) Ocean View, is a great-looking young wing with a significant upside. Brown is all arms and legs at this point and he appears to be nowhere close to mature physically. He's got a good stroke to the stripe and above-average ball skills for a kid his age and size. With continued development, he figures to end up at the high major level.

I spoke with Brown recently and asked about the programs showing early interest in him.

"Washington, UCLA, Gonzaga, Arizona, San Diego and Stanford," said Brown.

I asked him if he had a favorite school growing up.

"I liked Arizona," said Brown. "I like Lute Olson, even though he's probably leaving."

Even though it's still very early in the process, Brown has given a little bit of thought to the factors that might influence his choice.

"A good education is big – something that will fit with what I want to do when I get older," said Brown. "Also, the playing style. Location won't really matter. I think I'm mature enough to make decisions on my own."

Brown said he's not looking to make an early commitment.

"I want to take my time – I don't want to rush into a decision," said Brown. "I want to take visits and go through the process."

I asked Brown about the people that will help him reach his decision.

"My Dad will be helping me," said Brown. "He played at UC Irvine and he knows what it's like to get recruited."

Brown said he has a 4.2 GPA.
