Junior Update: Jordan Farmar

Jordan Farmar was virtually unknown heading into last summer, but a series of outstanding performances in July served notice that he'll be among the top recruits in the class of 2004. We spoke with him recently about his recruitment...

Jordan Farmar, 6-1 JR PG Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft, is currently ranked #2 among West Coast PGs in the 2004 class and he's receiving considerable recruiting attention already.

Farmar took an unofficial visit with his mother to Gonzaga this past weekend. We asked him how the trip went. "It was great," said Farmar. "I had a good time, got a chance to play with the players and met with the coaches. They've got some really good players there now and more coming."

While Farmar was enthusiastic about Gonzaga, don't look for him to make a commitment anytime soon. "I'll probably commit after next summer," said Farmar. "I like Gonzaga, but it was my first trip and I want to see what's out there."

We asked Farmar if he has given much thought to other schools that he'd like to visit. "Arizona, Stanford, Kansas and UConn would be four that I'd be interested in," Farmar replied. Farmar told us that he may take an unofficial visit to Stanford in the near future.

When questioned about the factors he would consider in making his decision, Farmar said, "academics, obviously, then who is there, who they're recruiting, style of play and the coaching staff." We asked if the opportunity to win at a high level would be an issue and Farmar said, "yes, I want to play at a school where they have a chance to play in the Final Four."

Farmar's GPA is currently around 3.5 and he scored 1230 on the SAT.
