Pettinella Picks Ivy School

The Ivy League did well for itself on Wednesday. McQuaid Jesuit power forward Ryan Pettinella will join the fray next fall.

Quakers Land Pettinella

Ryan Pettinella wants to major in business. The Penn Quakers are more than willing to oblige him. On Wednesday, Pettinella committed to Penn.

"I got it down to Penn, Cornell and Rice," Pettinella said. "I wanted a good academic school. It was a pretty easy choice. I wanted to major in business. They have great tradition and they're a power in the Ivy. They're a great basketball program."

Pettinella will enter Penn via a pretty good basketball program as well. McQuaid Jesuit has three Division I seniors on the roster. Point guard Tyler Relph is headed to West Virginia and forward Marty O'Sullivan committed to Fairfield earlier in the fall.

Last season, Pettinella averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds. "Penn sees me as a three-four. I should get some time as a freshman and get progressively more as the years go on."
