Anthony Stover, 6-10 JR C La Canada (Calif.) Renaissance, is one of the elite post prospects in the West Coast class of 2009. An excellent shot blocker, Stover is very long and slender. He's grown at least an inch in the last year and has the look of someone who may not be done growing yet.
I spoke with Stover recently and asked about the programs that have been showing him interest.
"Stanford has been showing a lot of interest and Washington's Coach Fortier came to a practice today," said Stover. "Boston College has been calling and USC offered about four weeks ago. Coach Johnson from Stanford came to a game and another Stanford coach came to a playoff game. Arizona has been calling a lot, Arizona State came to a game and UCLA has been to a couple games."
Stover said USC is the only school that has offered to date.
I asked him if he has a leader at this time.
"Stanford, UCLA and Arizona State are probably among the top ones right now," said Stover.
Stover has been to UCLA and USC for games. He said he has an unoffical visit coming up soon.
"My family and I are going up to Stanford this weekend," said Stover.
Stover said he doesn't anticipate an early decision.
"I'm thinking I'll take all my official visits, so I'll probably decide sometime in the fall," said Stover.
