Cousins Ends Recruitment; Picks C-USA Program

One of the best juniors in the nation is off the board, as DeMarcus Cousins committed to a C-USA program on Friday.

DeMarcus Cousins was never shy about his love for Mike Davis, and on Friday he went a step further and gave the second year UAB coach a verbal commitment.

`"DeMarcus felt like everyone turned their back on him," LeFlore High (Ala.) coach Otis Hughley told FoxSports' Jeff Goodman. "But Mike Davis never did. He was there when DeMarcus felt like it was at its worst. He never wavered on his decision to coach him."

Cousins, a 6-foot-10, 245-pound post prospect transferred from Erwin to LeFlore at the beginning of the year and led them to the Class 6A title game, where they lost to Hillcrest. Cousins averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds a game.

``If he would accept the reality of playing in the paint, DeMarcus can be the number one pick in the NBA Draft one day," Hughley said

Cousins, who checks in as the 2nd rated center in the 2009 class, picked the Blazers over strong interest from Kentucky, Memphis, Missouri, Arkansas, Marquette, Alabama and Indiana.'s 4th ranked prospect becomes the first junior to commit to the Blazers.
