Faber's List Rounding Out

Krys Faber ended his season recently and now the search for a college is in full swing. Can anyone run down Minnesota and Northern Illinois?

With the season over, it's time to get down to business for 6-foot-10 center Krys Faber, a senior standout from Los Angeles (Calif.) Ribet.

"Their team went out in the first round," Kyle Faber, Krys' father said. "Ribet is not a basketball powerhouse. It's all good; he had a good season."

Minnesota, Northern Illinois, St. John's, Notre Dame, and if its interested, UCLA has a shot with late bloomer. Baylor and Iowa are calling.

Minnesota and Northern Illinois had him on campus in the fall. The Gophers made an impression. "He kind of fell in love with the place," Faber said. "He loves the Barn of all places. He likes that old school stuff."

Northern Illinois is a player because assistant Dennis Gates recruited Faber while he was at Cal. There's a definite allegiance to the relationship.

"I really believe he'll visit Notre Dame, St. John's and beyond that its something the coach is working out with the schools themselves."

The Fabers have certainly entertained a host of newcomers throughout the season and interest came from both coasts. Through the hoopla, the family has been extremely loyal to the programs that first reached out.

"We're more concerned with the schools that have shown him love from day one."
